Jim is a Temporary Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who believes that all people have the strength and resilience needed to create meaningful change for themselves. By primarily using collaborative and solution-focused approaches, Jim strives to help clients see that as the authors of their own stories, they can write their next chapters and find resolutions to their own conflicts.
Jim earned his Bachelor’s degree in English from Grinnell College and completed his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mount Mercy University.
Before becoming a licensed therapist, Jim worked at an expansive array of jobs, from warehousing to education, all of which have given him a deep appreciation for the winding journey that is life as well as the rich variety of experiences people all around us have to share.
Jim particularly enjoys working with clients struggling with life and vocational transitions, older clients, teens, couples, and parents. Jim finds purpose in watching people build confidence through overcoming their struggles.
Other than being a therapist, Jim is a published poet who enjoys writing, running, reading, and spending time with his partner and three children. He finds as much fulfillment sitting inside reading a book or watching a movie as he does roaming along a trail in the woods.
